YARMOUTH PORT, MA—July 13, 2009
The Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, one of the largest professional orchestras in Massachusetts, has announced the election of new officers and the addition of two new members to the board of trustees for the CCSO’s upcoming 48th season.
F. Stephen Mainero will serve as chair during the 2009-10 season. Former board treasurer Warren C. Marsh will serve as vice-chair, while Kimberly K. Williams has been elected as treasurer and Robert Summersgill as secretary. In addition, Reverend Monsignor Ronald A. Tostiand Irene S. Haney have accepted seats on the board of trustees.
Immediate-Past CCSO Chair Gerald Garnick said, “Steve has been a colleague and thoughtful advisor during the past three years as a member of the CCSO board. He will bring leadership, experience and a deep commitment to the community in his role as chair. He will also have a solid team on the board of trustees – a team of talented individuals and passionate volunteers.”
Discussing his new role, Steve said: “I am both humbled and proud to serve as chair. The CCSO is comprised of dedicated professionals at every level of the organization who consistently strive to make CCSO one of the finest regional orchestras in the country. It attracts and captivates over 50,000 music lovers at indoor and outdoor concerts each year. In the upcoming academic year, our music education programs will impact more than 14,000 students across the Cape. The CCSO is not only a cultural wellspring for music it is a vital thread in the fabric that makes up everyday life on the Cape.”
The CCSO Board of Trustees contributes to the organization’s good health via policy setting, fundraising, strategic planning and financial management. Board members are active advocates for the CCSO in the community and encourage others to join in supporting this cultural gem.
CCSO 2009-11 BOARD OF TRUSTEES OFFICERS
F. Stephen Mainero, CCSO Chair
Steve has served as vice-chair of the board, including membership on the executive committee and chairmanships on the strategic planning, development, and audience development committees. He is president and chief executive officer of The Franklin Career Group, Inc., an international executive search firm. Prior to the Franklin Career Group, he was a founding member of Activison, Inc. and CSI, Inc. Steve began his career in advertising with BBDO and rose to the position of executive vice president at J. Walter Thompson. He has served on numerous boards and has a long history of community service including founder of Project Aware, an Aids awareness initiative, and the development chair of “Save the Cable Cars” in San Francisco. Currently, Steve is also on the Board of Advisors for Cape Cod Hospice and Palliative Care and a member of The Haiti Committee at Our Lady of The Cape Church. Steve is a graduate of Colby College and Cornell Law School. He resides in Brewster.
Warren C. Marsh, CCSO Vice-Chair
A certified financial planner, Warren is senior vice president and chief wealth management services officer for The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank. He entered the brokerage industry in 1984 as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch focusing on financial planning, estate planning and wealth management issues for both individuals and business owners. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Warren worked with GE Capital financial services. His community board experience includes former treasurer and chairman of the finance committee of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, member of the board of trustees of the Cape Cod Museum of Art and a trustee and chairman of the nominating committee of the Cape Cod Five Charitable Foundation. Warren received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alfred University and a Master of Science in finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a resident of Orleans.
Kimberly K. Williams, CCSO Treasurer
Recently Kimberly joined Cape Cod Five’s Trust and Management team as a senior wealth management officer. Her professional background includes the position of senior vice president at the Cape Cod office of Bank of America. During her 22-year tenure, Kimberly gained considerable experience in trust management and portfolio management. As a resident of Cape Cod for 16 years, she has developed deep roots in our community, including 11 years of service on the board of trustees of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra where she served as chair of the Annual Fund and president of the CCSO Guild. Kimberly often lends a hand to local organizations, including serving on the steering committee of the Osterville Business and Professional Association for over 10 years. Kimberly is a graduate of Providence College and the ABA Graduate Trust School at Williams College. She lives in Centerville.
Robert Summersgill, CCSO Secretary
Robert served as interim and appointed executive director of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra from 2002-05 and currently is a board member. With 20 plus years in the banking industry, Robert served as the first vice president responsible for corporate banking and marketing activities in New England with Mellon Bank and was the head of the Energy Lending Division of Bank of Boston. Prior to joining the CCSO, he worked as a philanthropy consultant with The Philanthropic Initiative, a non-profit philanthropy consulting and research firm in Boston. Robert served on the Board of Directors of the RFK Children’s Action Corps, Ride For Kids, Boston Historical Society, Bay State College, on the Board of Overseers of the USS Constitution Museum and as a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra corporate development committee. He is a founding member of the newly formed New England Orchestra Consortium. Robert received his BA from Williams College and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He lives in Orleans.

Reverend Monsignor Ronald A. Tosti
Monsignor Tosti is the founder and retired pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church in Mashpee where he served for 30 years focusing on religious foundation, family ministry and pastoral planning. He continues to minister at both St. John's Parish in Pocasset and at Holy Trinity Parish in Cotuit. Reverend Tosti has had a longtime involvement in the arts. He studied piano with Margaret Starr McLaine at Boston University College of Music and harp with Cynthia Gordon O'Neill of Barnstable. He conducted the seminary choir in Baltimore and has directed music ministry at several parishes. Monsignor Tosti currently is a member of the Cahoon Museum, the Cotuit Center for the Arts, and the Cotuit library. He received degrees from St. Thomas Seminary in Hartford and St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned a Master's Degree from Fordham University in New York. He resides in Cotuit.
Irene S. Haney
Irene has been a strong supporter of the CCSO and is currently a member of the CCSO Guild governance committee. Most recently, Irene owned and managed an antique shop in Newport. Prior to her retail venture, Irene was a technical writer for the Naval Underwater Systems Center in Newport and an English educator and librarian in Waterbury, Connecticut. Her community service includes president of the American Association of University Women in Rhode Island, board member and president of the Osterville Garden Club, and volunteer activities with the Centerville Civic Association and the Massachusetts Audubon Society. Irene received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science from Saint Joseph’s College. She is a resident of Centerville.
