MusicWorks! Everyday
|
MusicWorks! Everyday education program encourages each child to engage with music in a way that is very personal and helps all children - not just music students - broaden their appreciation for great music and improve their listening skills at little or no cost.
How it works
Participants in this uniquely designed, non-directed listening program listen to classical music for five minutes at the beginning of each school day, five days a week, for five years. By listening to the same composition over the course of a week, listeners become knowledgeable about the featured music and the composer, as well as improve their ability to focus and be more productive in all their subjects.
Program-in-a-Box
The program has been enthusiastically received by teachers and administrators, and successfully implemented in a variety of school settings. The program is very easy to implement. It can be used by both specialist and non-specialist teachers -- with no additional teacher preparation required. A comprehensive resource book and professional-quality CDs for a five-year plan make up this “program-in-a-box”. Further, when used in conjunction with other CCSO music education programs, it directly supports the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework.
Getting Started
The CCSO is highly committed to bringing this popular program to schools Cape-wide. In addition to initial training with administrators with sign-on in Spring 2009, we provided a full staff training session in late summer 2009 before school started. We will also schedule follow up visits to ensure program success.
