The Chatham Chorale’s slogan is “Singing for Cape Cod since 1971,” and they’ve become a beloved institution in that time. Under the direction of Joseph “Joe” Marchio, they continue the tradition of presenting the finest selection of choral music on the Cape, and the tradition of performing at Cape Symphony’s Holiday on the Cape.
The Chatham Chorale is a community chorus of about 100 members, performing music of all types in various venues on Cape Cod. In 1976, the Chatham Chorale Chamber Singers, a smaller chorus composed of approximately 25 voices selected from the larger Chorale, was created to perform music written for smaller ensembles in more intimate spaces.
Joe Marchio became Music Director of the Chatham Chorale in 2010. Joe is a graduate of the College of Wooster, where he earned both a Bachelor’s degree in organ performance and a Bachelor of Arts in religious studies. He earned a Master of Divinity degree at the Yale University Institute of Sacred Music, and a Master of Music degree in choral conducting at the Boston Conservatory. Joe is the Pastor and Director of Music at First Congregational Church of Chatham.
