Dec 14

Are you working on your list of resolutions for 2018? So many of us focus on things we feel we should do - lose weight, save money, be more responsible. But how about a resolution that's pure enjoyment? Get more music in your life!

How about starting in January with an Nth Degree concert, featuring Cape Symphony's extraordinary principal flute player, Zach Sheets? Our outstanding concertmaster and principal violinist, Jae Cosmos Lee, heads up Nth Degree and will also star in Haydn to Brahms: A Thread of Genius on January 20 and 21. Jae and our other string principals will perform the Haydn quartet nicknamed "Sunrise," and the full Cape Symphony will take on the beautifully but technically challenging Brahms Symphony No. 3.

In February, we're bringing Broadway to the Cape, with three musical theater stars performing hits from rock- and pop-inspired musicals like Rent, Hairspray and Wicked. Join us for Broadway Rocks on February 17 and 18.

More great music follows in April and May - it'll be so easy to keep this resolution! Impressions of Don Quixote features the incredible Zuill Bailey on cello, and dramatic baritone Philip Lima. Both will "play" the role of Don Quixote as the Cape Symphony explores how different composers were inspired by this memorable character, April 7 and 8.

American Mavericks on May 5 and 6 will close out our traditional Cape Symphony season with a rousing celebration of Leonard Bernstein, part of Leonard Bernstein at 100. His pure genius led to groundbreaking works across many genres, and we’ll present his famous “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story” and his playful “Divertimento.”
