On January 1, 2020, we’ll be putting on our tenth New Year’s Day Party! Time flies when you’re having fun!
The first Cape Symphony New Year celebration was on January 1, 2011, and featured two opera singers and ballroom dancers, following the Viennese tradition of a New Year’s concert with classic Austrian waltzes and marches from the Johann Strauss family of composers.
Since then, Jung-Ho has mixed it up a lot more, creating a festive variety show that nods to tradition but also includes surprising guests, contemporary music and a lot of fun! This year is no exception – you’ll hear some beautiful waltzes, but also recent pop hits with fiery performers who’ll turn tradition on its head.
The New Year’s Day Party also features the Vienna Café, offering coffee and delectable Viennese pastries made by Gourmet Caterers, available for purchase from 1:30 to 2:45 PM in the senior cafeteria at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center. For this special occasion, champagne by the glass will be available for purchase in the Vienna Café. Enjoy a pre-concert toast with your friends!
Our New Year’s Day Party is a ninety-minute concert with no intermission and only one performance, at 3:00 PM on January 1. Come early for the Vienna Café. This concert always sells out, so don’t wait to get your tickets! Visit capesymphony.org or call 508.362.1111.
