These amazing young talents will be performing on Saturday, September 16th and Sunday, September 17th.
All four of these rising stars from Boston Lyric Opera will be on stage at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center with the Cape Symphony. Clockwise from top left:
Soprano Chelsea Basler went to school in Boston - at New England Conservatory and BU. She appears on the GRAMMY-nominated recording of the new opera Cold Moutain, based on the novel. Chelsea created the role of Sara (played by Natalie Portman in the 2003 film version).
Jon Jurgens has played many great tenor roles, including Gastone in La Traviata. He's from Ohio and was thrilled to debut with Opera Columbus in May as Don José in Carmen. Coming up in October, Jon will appear in Tosca at the BLO.
Heather Gallagher is a mezzo-soprano, which means her vocal range is between soprano and contralto. Heather is currently a Resident Teaching Artist with BLO’s Music! Words! Opera! program, going into classrooms in the greater Boston area and guiding kids and their teachers in the development of their own original classroom opera.
Baritone David McFerrin has already appeared with the Cape Symphony in 2017 - performing at the John F. Kennedy Centennial Concert in honor of JFK's 100th birthday. A graduate of Juilliard, David has performed with the Boston Pops and at Carnegie Hall. We're delighted he's coming back to join us again!
Don't miss the chance to see these talented young performers and hear their amazing voices. Tickets are going fast for Opera's Greatest Moments II.
