Saxophone Choir consists of soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxes. Musical selections will include transcriptions of classical repertoire as well as music drawn from musical theater, popular music, and jazz. Participants will cover topics concerning pedagogy and fundamentals including embouchure, vibrato, articulation, tone, breath support, and extended techniques. Repertoire is chosen based upon the needs and experiences of participants, but a wide range of styles are explored in duo, trio, standard classical saxophone quartet, and saxophone choir settings.
This class is open to saxophonists ages twelve and up who have at least two years playing their instrument.
Directed by music educator and multi-instrumentalist Paul Weller, this friendly and fun ensemble is a great way to strengthen your skills and stay in playing shape.
Enrollment is limited to 6 players or less. Safety procedures include social distancing combined with large vinyl screen barriers. Players will remove masks only for playing. Music stands and chairs are sanitized before and after rehearsal.
