Earl Harmon, saxophone, attained both a bachelor of music education and bachelor of music degree from New England Conservatory, where he studied under preeminent master saxophone teacher, Joe Allard. A lifelong resident of southeastern Massachusetts, Earl joined the Cape Symphony faculty in January 2020. He brings with him 25+ years’ experience as an instructor of saxophone, clarinet and instrumental ensembles at the South Shore Conservatory in Hingham, where he also established and coached the SSC Saxophone Quartet, an ensemble that distinguished itself performing at the annual Massachusetts Music Educators Conference over multiple years.

Currently employed as an IT professional on Cape Cod, Earl has 21 years of additional teaching experience as band director for a number of South Shore school systems, directing concert bands, marching bands and jazz ensembles, as well as teaching woodwind, brass, and percussion. He has been active in the Southeast District Music Festivals and is regularly requested to adjudicate at the District’s senior and junior levels. As a saxophonist, he has performed with the Sessions Big Band (at BB’s Jazz, Blues, and Soups, St Louis), Metropolitan Wind Symphony, South Shore Wind Symphony, Plymouth Philharmonic, Brockton Symphony, Hingham Symphony Orchestra, and the Company Theatre Pit Orchestras.
