Event dates: Postponed

We regret that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our 2020-21 Cape Symphony season will be rescheduled to 2021-22, because the Barnstable Public School buildings, including the Barnstable Performing Arts Center, will not be available to outside organizations during the 2020-21 school year.

Our musicians, staff, and trustees are all deeply saddened by this situation, as we know you are. We will greatly miss performing for you. Please know that we’re optimistic about the future, and we promise that when we return, the Cape Symphony experience will be better than ever!

If you were a 2019-20 Cape Symphony series subscriber, don’t worry: your subscription will be held for the 2021-22 season. Put on your party hats and join us in wishing Beethoven a happy 250th birthday! The celebration for the greatest composer of all time begins with his wonderful Piano Concerto No. 5, known as the Emperor Concerto for its magnificence. Award-winning pianist and talented improviser Charlie Albright, an impressive young man who channels the spirit of great classical composers, joins us. You'll also hear Beethoven’s popular Egmont Overture, a thrilling tribute to resistance against tyranny, performed by the Cape Symphony for the first time.

As a birthday gift to Beethoven, we’ll perform the most popular symphony by his musical heir, Johannes Brahms. Brahms felt and demonstrated the legacy of Beethoven more than any other composer, and his bright, joyful Symphony No. 2 will be a wonderful commemoration.
