Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra Program
Welcoming new members for the spring 2021 Season!
With three training ensembles and a full symphonic orchestra, the Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra program offers superb musical training to students in grades 3 through 12, and college students under the age of 22. Centered on fostering joy in instrumental and orchestral playing, the ensembles provide an enriching musical experience in a professional and supportive environment.
The Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra is led by Mark Miller, who has worked with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras for over 30 years. Mark is the principal clarinetist with the Cape Symphony.
Due to the pandemic, the Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra and Repertory Strings will take place virtually/online; Debut Strings and Chamber Winds will not take place.
Program Highlights:

Prerequisites for Participation:
Musicians must be in good standing with their school music programs; private music lessons are strongly encouraged.
Scholarships:
Financial aid scholarships are available for qualified students.
Tuition Waiver:
Cape Symphony private music students receive tuition-free participation in the CSYO program!

We are accepting new members for all ensembles in the Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra program. New students should submit a video audition as soon as possible. Audition requirements and video guidelines are online here.
Current members of the program are welcomed back without an audition.

CAPE SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRA
MARK MILLER, CONDUCTOR
The Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra is a full symphonic orchestra composed of musicians of intermediate to advanced technical and musical ability. Members receive group and individual coaching which enables them to build solid fundamental technical and musical skills.
CSYO REPERTORY STRINGS
DAVID GABLE, CONDUCTOR
Repertory Strings is designed to inspire and enrich string players in grades 6 through 9. The ensemble provides a strong foundation for orchestral playing and develops musicianship and technical skills in a fun and supportive environment. Students will be challenged with carefully-selected string ensemble arrangements and have opportunities to play side-by-side with the Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra. Younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
DEBUT STRINGS (ON HOLD FOR 2020/21 SEASON)
DAVID GABLE, CONDUCTOR
Debut Strings is a small ensemble tailored to string players in grades 3 through 5. Students will work on musical technique, ensemble playing skills, rhythm development, and practice skills. Younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
CHAMBER WINDS (ON HOLD FOR 2020/21 SEASON)
ELIZABETH DORISS, CONDUCTOR
Chamber Winds is designed to inspire and enrich woodwind and brass players. Students will improve their ensemble-playing skills, refine their audition preparations, and develop effective instrument pedagogy. All wind instruments are welcome in this ensemble, including saxophone!
