Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra
Composing Kids/Teens

With local district or school funding, these optional programs, which involve composing and orchestrating a four- to five-minute symphony, are available to middle and high schools on the Cape and Islands. In the Composing Kids program, fifth and sixth graders compose the symphony, which is then arranged and scored by the Composing Teens group.

The resulting mini-symphony is performed by the CCSO at the a Young People’s Concert and the two composing groups have the added pleasure of joining the musicians on stage as their mini-symphony is premiered.

For more information, contact George Scharr, Director of Education, at gscharr@capesymphony.org.

41 students from local schools were challenged by the Composing Kids, Composing Teens programs in 2007-08.
