Brahms' Masterpiece
APRIL 6, 2013 at 8PM
APRIL 7, 2013 at 3PM
The orchestra thrives on compositions that challenge; Maestro Pak’s passion is conducting Brahms. They’re perfectly matched for this complex, sophisticated, extremely heartfelt symphony, written at the zenith of the great composer’s career.
There’s also a common thread masterly woven throughout this program: the passacaglia. It’s one of the most intriguing of all art forms; in the hands of the masters, it is pure genius.
The intrigue continues as we present an extraordinary piece by Brett Abigaña. We commissioned this talented composer to create a new piece after a work by Handel that demonstrates how an old form like the passacaglia can be a framework for new ideas. Don't miss the exciting world premiere of Passing Acquaintance.
