This Little Light of Mine
The Stories of Marian Anderson and Leontyne Price
Adrienne Danrich, Soprano  I  Djorde Stevan Nesic, Piano
Tilden Auditorium  I  Cape Cod Community College  I
2240 Iyannough Rd. West Barnstable, MA 02668

Jointly presented by the Cape Cod Community College and Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, this special concert honors Black History Month and celebrates the 50th Anniversaries of both organizations.
Written by Adrienne Danrich under a commission from the Cincinnati Opera, This Little Light of Mine is an inventive one-woman musical tribute honoring the ground breaking careers of two African-American opera legends who overcame many racial barriers from the Jim Crow era through the Civil Rights Movement to become international opera stars. Ms. Anderson became the first African-American singer to perform at The Metropolitan Opera House in New York and Ms. Price would take that torch and carry it to The Metropolitan Opera and the most prestigious opera houses around the world.
Best described as a ‘live documentary’, EMMY-award-winning Ms. Danrich narrates the remarkable story with moving dialogue and songs and arias that bring the accomplishments of these two great women to audiences that will never hear them ‘live’. In addition to her storytelling ability and the beauty of her voice, Ms. Danrich creatively documents the lives of the two artist/pioneers by showing poignant multi-media images of the pair at different stages in their lives and playing audio excerpts of some of their most famous recordings.

About Adrienne Danrich
In addition to her highly successful tour of This Little Light of Mine, Ms. Danrich performed in the acclaimed community performances of Introducing Margaret Garner in 2005 and as the High Priestess in the company's 2000 production of Aida. She made her professional debut as Pamina in The Magic Flute with the Kentucky Opera while still part of the Artist Diploma program at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Most recently, Ms. Danrich has performed with San Francisco Opera, Opera Pacific, and Dayton Opera. She has recorded under PS Classics, OCP Publications, Soli Deo Gloria Productions and with the Eastman School of Music.
