Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra
Young Artist Competition

The CCSO’s Young Artists’ Competition has two components—the annual Scholarship Competition and the intermittent Concerto Competition—both of which have similar overall goals: to help deserving students advance their musical careers.

Scholarship Competition
The Young Artists’ Scholarship Competition is an annual competition. It includes the Emil Kornsand String Scholarship Award and the Orchestra Instrument Scholarship Award, each valued at $1,000 and intended for further music study with a teacher of the winner’s choice. Awarded through a competitive audition process, these scholarships are given to student musicians who have achieved the highest level of proficiency relative to their age and number of years playing their instrument.
Concerto Competition
With outside advance funding, the CCSO will invite talented young musicians from the Cape and Islands to audition for the Concerto Competition component of the Young Artists’ Competition. The selection process involves an initial audition from which four finalists are selected by a panel of judges. The finals are performed before a public audience and a second independent panel of judges, at which time the cash awards are presented. In celebration of the Symphony's 50th Anniversary, the next Concerto Competition will be held in the spring of 2012.

YOUNG ARTISTS' COMPETITION 2011
Registrations for the Scholarship Competition are due by March 25, 2011, with the Competition to be held on Sunday, April 3 at the Barnstable Campus of the Cape Cod Conservatory. For complete details and application forms, please download the 2011 YAC Application Packet.
