There's just something special about show tunes... a unique energy, emotion, and excitement that no other kind of music hits quite the same way. You don't even have to have seen the whole show for its signature hit to bring smiles, tears, goosebumps, or pure joy. Sometimes, it's all in the vocals. For Defying Gravity: The Best of Broadway! on October 18 & 19, 2025, Cape Symphony brings a wealth of Broadway talent to the stage to make it happen.
Here are our sensational guest artists. From left to right:
BroadwayWorld calls Kelli Rabke “one of the best singers in the business.” A staple in the NYC cabaret world, she’s “a total firecracker,” says Phil Geoffrey Bond of 54 Below. On Broadway, she was handpicked by Andrew Lloyd Webber for her debut in the revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and played Eponine in Les Misérables.
One of New York’s most honored vocalists, Scott Coulter directed and starred in the world premiere of A Christmas Carol: The Symphonic Concert with the Baltimore Symphony, and in the Emmy-nominated PBS production. He is Emmy-nominated for American Song at NJPAC and Grammy-nominated for Sondheim Unplugged.
Jessica Hendy is known as “one of the best belters on Broadway,” having starred in Cats, Aida, and Amour, and toured internationally in Cats and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She won the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for her one-woman musical Walking With Bubbles.
Pianist John Boswell has music directed Judy Collins, Andy Williams, Bob Newhart, and a host of other talents and tours. He has appeared on The Tonight Show, Today, CBS This Morning, Live with Regis And Kathie Lee, General Hospital, and more.
Guest conductor Jason Seber is thrilled to be leading the performance. "My whole life, I've been a huge Broadway fan! Anytime I'm in New York I definitely try to catch a show or two. We have so many wonderful musicals represented on our "Defying Gravity: The Best of Broadway" program." Asked for his favorites, it's clearly a tough choice: "Les Miserables, Cabaret, The Lion King, and of course, Wicked!"
