Leave a Legacy
Planned giving is an easy way to make a lasting contribution that will play a critical role in sustaining the high level of artistry of our Orchestra and concerts, expanding our music and arts education programs, and enriching and shaping the culture of our Cape community. Legacy giving can be accomplished through a bequest in a will, beneficiary designation on retirement accounts or life insurance, or a charitable trust.
Bequests are often provided to Cape Symphony as a lump sum or as a percentage of the residue of an estate. Sample language to include in your will may read: “I give to Cape Arts and Entertainment, Inc. (TIN: 04-6297436), located in West Barnstable, MA, the sum of $____ or ____% of the residue of my estate for its general purposes."
Through your financial advisor or insurance agent, you may designate Cape Symphony as a partial or full beneficiary on retirement accounts, life insurance policies, and charitable trusts.
To ensure that your gift is received and used as you intend, we encourage you to inform us of the details and desired uses of your planned gift. Those who inform Cape Symphony of a legacy planned gift become members of the Royston Nash Society. Royston Nash was the conductor of the Cape Symphony Orchestra from 1980-2007, and the Society was founded to honor his legacy.
Donate by Donor Advised Funds (DAFs), Charitable IRA Rollovers, or Stock
Cape Symphony accepts gifts from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs), charitable IRA rollovers, and gifts of stock.
Legal Name: Cape Arts and Entertainment, Inc.
Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN): 04-6297436
A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is an account established to support charities while achieving income tax savings. A DAF allows donors to establish a fund to make charitable contributions over time, while receiving an upfront tax deduction. Because any assets transferred into the account must eventually go to charity, the donor is qualified for a charitable deduction at the time of the contribution to the DAF.
Those 70.5 years and older may make tax-free gifts up to $100,000 annually directly from their individual retirement account (IRA). A charitable IRA rollover provides taxpayers with a mechanism for transferring their annual required minimum distributions (RMDs) directly to charitable organizations and exclude the distributions from their taxable income.
By donating appreciated stocks held for more than one year, individuals can avoid paying capital gains tax on the increase in value, while still receiving a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the shares at the time of donation.
