The Cape Symphony’s Instrument & Instruction Access Program (IIAP) is an initiative that aims to remove financial barriers and provide more educational opportunities for young, aspiring musicians on Cape Cod. We accomplish this not only by providing access to high-quality instruments for members of the Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra Program (CSYOP), but by partnering with nearby school music programs to identify students who would greatly benefit from access to an instrument, private instruction, and participation in CSYOP ensembles.
Additionally, we accept donations in the form of musical instruments which are then loaned to IIAP participants. Please use the form (button below), if you are interested in donating a used instrument.
Access Partnerships
In collaboration with local public-schools and their music teachers, students are identified and invited to join IIAP, annually. Each participant is provided with an instrument or instrument upgrade (if necessary), two semesters of private lessons with a Cape Symphony Teaching Artist, and invited to audition for and join a Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra Program ensemble.
Since our initial pilot in 2023, more than a dozen students from Barnstable Intermediate School and Barnstable United Elementary School have participated in IIAP. In just a few years, several IIAP participants have steadily improved and earned positions in our most advanced CSYOP ensembles.
Thanks to the generous contributions of donors and community partners, IIAP continues to thrive and expand. IIAP is not only an investment in the future of our young musicians but also a commitment to building a vibrant and diverse musical community on Cape Cod.
Join us in empowering the next generation of musicians by supporting the Instrument & Instruction Access Program!
