Detroit native Nina Ott originally trained as a classical pianist. When the music of Wayne Shorter inspired a change in direction, she moved East to be closer to the center of jazz. She frequented clubs, hearing masters such as McCoy Tyner, Hank Jones, Mulgrew Miller, Cedar Walton, Jaki Byard and Herbie Hancock, who remain essential influences to this day. Later in Chicago, Nina was a house pianist at the Green Mill Midnight session, and worked steadily as a soloist and in clubs. Currently, Nina is in several groups as a leader and a collaborator. She has taught at Berklee College of Music, Stanford Jazz Workshop, Cranbrook Academy of Art, and SF Jazz Organization.
Steve Fell is a guitarist, composer, and educator whose performing and recording career over the last 25 years has spanned jazz, experimental, funk, free form improvisation, rock, electronic, reggae/calypso, hip-hop, psych, and many others. He co-leads the groups Clear Audience, Quantum Banditos, Dome Room, and Astronomico, leads a trio under his own name, and collaborates with numerous bands and artists.
