If you haven’t been to Devil’s Purse Brewing Co. in South Dennis on a Friday evening yet this summer, there are still plenty of Fridays left to fix that! Cape Symphony Presents brings friendly block party vibes to the patio every Friday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with these outstanding artists:
Check out DJ RhythmRyder on July 12 and 26 for a dynamic blend of danceable grooves and laid-back jazz vibes. You’ll hear a diverse selection of modern to classic sounds, encompassing Cuban, Afrobeat, Japanese, Brazilian, French, Blue Note classics, Scandinavian, and Latin rhythms.
On July 19, Bongogenesis – the only Afro-Cuban band on Cape Cod – will play traditional Cuban music, Afro-Cuban Jazz, and Salsa. The band is Olivia Yingling (vocals), Sam Holmstock (percussion), Greg Polanik (guitar, tres Cubano), and Glenway Fripp (bass).
Local favorite Mozelle Andrulot will perform on August 2. Mozelle sang with the Cape Symphony Orchestra at our Symphony at the Seashore concert last August. What a pleasure it will be to hear her in this intimate setting!
On August 9, the world rhythms and multilingual lyrics of Eleanor & Dario will take us on a feel-good trip around the world. Cellist and vocalist Eleanor Dubinsky and guitarist Dario Acosta Teich play both original and familiar songs, hitting a perfect summer vibe.
Fabulous jazz trio The Art Ensemble of Cape Cod will make a special appearance on August 16. Pianist Wayne Naus, bassist Rick Cain, and drummer John DiSanto perform jazz standards and great original music inspired by life on the Cape.
The Olivia Yingling Quartet will play jazz -- and perhaps some bossa nova! -- on August 23. This is the incomparable Olivia Yingling of Bongogenesis in another of her fabulous ensembles. If you caught the Quartet at the Falmouth Jazz Stroll, you know they’re not to be missed!
As the summer winds down (say it isn’t so!), the exceptionally talented Tish Adams & Evening Sky will close out our Summer Jazz Series on August 30. Tish performs “jazz, blues and a few surprises” for enthusiastic fans throughout New England, and we’re thrilled to have her at Devil’s Purse.
These events are always free and always fun. Come any Friday, or every Friday! With great local music, the best beer around, and delicious BBQ from the legendary Red River BBQ truck, there is no better way to kick off the weekend.
