Cape Symphony Presents, Pelham House Resort, WOMR Bring Pelham Listening Lounge to Cape Cod

WEST BARNSTABLE, MA—December 17, 2024
Unique, immersive listening experiences in Dennis Port this winter

Cape Symphony Presents, Pelham House Resort, and WOMR are proud to announce the launch of Cape Cod’s first listening bar. Pelham Listening Lounge, curated by Cape Symphony Presents at Pelham House Resort in Dennis Port, will be open every Friday evening from January 10 – February 28, 2025.

The listening bar concept originated in Japan, has taken off across Europe, and is gaining popularity in the United States. Unlike at a party or a pub, the music at a listening bar isn’t the backdrop, it’s the priority. Acoustics are carefully designed, and people come to fully take in the sound.

Pelham Listening Lounge by Cape Symphony Presents will be the first of its kind on the Cape. “The experience will be comfortable and intimate, like being in a living room with friends,” says Richard Chwastiak of Cape Symphony Presents. “There may be food, drink, and quiet conversation, but the focus is on the music.” In some ways, the listening bar experience is like a concert performed by the DJ. People are mostly seated, and there are no requests. “The music is artfully selected, whether the DJ has decided in advance what they’ll play or takes inspiration from the mood of the room. It’s different every time. Come, relax, and listen.”

Julien Chaptal of listening bar Doka Amsterdam explains the concept from the DJ’s perspective. “It’s not about trying to play the music loud, it’s about playing it at a level which makes you feel like the music is really all around you, and part of you. You really should be able to become one with the room and the music that is being played there.”

“The Pelham Listening Lounge is an ideal way to unwind after the work week, let go of stress, and shift gears. We think there’s going to be a lot of enthusiasm for this concept on Cape Cod,” says Richard Chwastiak.

Sessions will be open from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM every Friday from January 10 through February 28, 2025 in the Nantucket Sound Room at Pelham House Resort, 14 Sea Street, Dennis Port, MA. There is no charge, and tickets are not required. The lineup of DJs is: January 10, Paul Rhythmryder; January 17, Matty Dread; January 24, Emerson Breneman; January 31, büsbus; February 7, Kaiser Disco; February 14, Saucy Lady & U-KEY; February 21, The Magic Message; February 28, Jackie Treehorn.
