Cape Symphony Orchestra Plays "Ragtime, Blues, & All That Jazz" in February

Renowned trumpeter Byron Stripling will lead the performance

WEST BARNSTABLE, MA—January 27, 2026

The Cape Symphony Orchestra will present “Ragtime, Blues & All That Jazz” at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center on February 21 & 22, 2026. Renowned trumpeter Byron Stripling returns to the Cape Symphony stage to conduct this exuberant CapePOPS! show.

The concert will be a high-spirited journey through beloved American genres, from the joyous romp of ragtime, to deeply rooted, heartfelt blues, to celebrated jazz standards. Stripling will lead the performance in signature style, with entertaining and humorous vignettes along the way. Legendary keyboardist Bobby Floyd will also perform with the Orchestra.

Cape Symphony audiences will remember Byron Stripling from the hit Louis Armstrong-themed CapePOPS! concert in 2023. He is Artistic Director and Conductor of the widely acclaimed Columbus Jazz Orchestra, and Principal Pops Conductor of the Milwaukee and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestras. A performer in high demand, he is known for his virtuosic trumpet sounds, jazzy vocals, and fun rapport with his audience. Stripling has played with the Boston Pops, National Symphony, New York Pops, Toronto Symphony, and many others, and was a featured soloist on PBS’s Evening at Pops with John Williams and Keith Lockhart. He has recorded and played with The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, The Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and the bands of Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, and Woody Herman, among others.

Bobby Floyd accompanies the top jazz, blues and gospel artists in the country. He has toured extensively with Byron Stripling, and with Ray Charles, Rusty Bryant, Jeff Tyzik, Chris Howes, Sarah Morrow, and his own trio. A popular soloist, Floyd has performed with the Rochester Philharmonic, the Vancouver, Columbus, Edmonton and Detroit Symphonies, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, and more. With the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, his soulful sound has backed Chuck Mangione, Houston Person, Branford Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Mavis Staples, Gerald Wilson, Wycliffe Gordon, John Clayton, and countless others.

Ragtime, Blues & All That Jazz” will be presented Saturday, February 21 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, February 22 at 3:00 PM at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis.
