Private instruction is the core of music education. Lessons are offered year-round for children and adults, from beginning through advanced levels in all major instruments and voice. Both campuses are set in tranquil, wooded areas and our staff and faculty provide a welcoming, nurturing atmosphere. An expert faculty with a wide range of diverse talents and personalities ensures the best-suited student/teacher match. Recitals are held at the end of each semester, with community performance opportunities offered throughout the year.
Tuition varies by instructor. The average rate for a 30-minute lesson is $40.
Private lessons are available at our Barnstable and Falmouth campuses, as well as online.

COVID-19 UPDATE: The Cape Symphony has limited in-person private lessons, following governmental regulation to ensure safety for students, faculty, and staff. We have a safety plan in place that includes limiting the building capacity to 25%, staggering class times, requiring masks, and disinfecting of studios and instruments in-between lessons.

As part of the largest arts organization on Cape Cod, our students have the leading edge in private music education:
Generally, private music lessons are offered Monday through Saturday at both campuses and online. The schedule varies for each teaching artist, so our registrars will work closely with you to determine a suitable day & time for your lessons.
We schedule lessons by the semester, though you may begin at any time during the year. We will pro-rate lessons that begin after the start of a semester.
Most lessons occur once per week for 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The teaching artist will help determine the length and frequency of your lesson. Most beginners start with 30-minute lessons and increase the time as their skills advance.
We recommend students first schedule a trial lesson by contacting our registrars:
