In a famous scene from the movie “Amadeus,” Mozart dictates his final opus to his rival Salieri, feverish on his deathbed as he hears the beautiful music in his head.
We look at the myths and facts behind his Requiem, an extraordinary affirmation of the power of the human spirit, and we perform the choral masterpiece from our hearts. Incredibly, the Cape Symphony has never played Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, “a little night music,” until now, although this tuneful serenade may be his most popular work.
