The nonprofit Mark Hennessy Foundation was founded in 2023 to support and provide opportunities to music students, established musicians, and those seeking to further their music careers through education, empowerment, innovation, and celebration. MHF believes that music transforms the lives of youth, families, and communities by empowering those who wish to express themselves through a creative outlet.
After hitting the ground running with their annual music festival, “we wanted to branch out and support other organizations,” says MHF President Amy Carroll. “That became the focus of our whole second year: do everything, get our name out there, have people see us.” Cape Symphony’s annual Crescendo Gala caught the eye of MHF Board member Stefanie Celata. “We got diving into Cape Symphony, and learned that you have this whole education piece. At the gala, we saw it was a great fit.”
Cape Symphony’s mission – to inspire, educate and connect our community through exceptional music and inclusive outreach programs – makes for a natural partnership with MHF. When they learned about our Music Therapy programming, they made a generous offer to help support it.
“Cape Symphony is a huge part of our Cape Cod community,” says Amy. “For us to be a part of that is awesome. We are so proud and happy to have our name affiliated with Cape Symphony and everything you do.”
For the Mark Hennessy Foundation, “the music never stops.” Indeed, we caught up with Amy on her way to San Francisco for the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary concert. “Music brings everybody together,” she said. “It’s a very powerful thing for us to be part of that with Cape Symphony… friends and partners in the community.”
We’re grateful to the Mark Hennessy Foundation for their work in the Cape Cod community, and for their support of Cape Symphony programming that helps fulfill both our missions.
