Cape Symphony Presents jazz singer-songwriter Eleanor Dubinsky, "a multilingual musician who can capture the emotions and soul of a community in a song" (NPR). A vocalist/guitarist/cellist, her concerts in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese invite audiences to travel the world while discovering the underground tributaries that connect us in our shared human experience.
Eleanor Dubinsky's music lives at the tender edge where jazz, world and pop sensibilities meet emotionally forthright songwriting. Hailing from St. Louis, MO and based in NYC, Eleanor's sound reflects and celebrates her mid-western roots and the formative time she has spent in Latin America, Europe, Portugal and Cape Verde. Singing in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, Eleanor and her multi-faceted band bring linguistic and cultural fluency to dynamic compositions exploring the fragile links between human emotions and responsibility. In the words of journalist Tom Pryor, expect "a joyous, uplifting and deeply generous performance...this is music as medicine for your soul."
Eleanor's creative roots are in classical cello. Past performances include Lincoln Center, Joe's Pub, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, The Kimmel Center and festivals, clubs and theaters on five continents. Eleanor has released three albums to date: Touch The Sky (2011), Listen To The Music (2012) and Soft Spot of My Heart (2018).
The band: Eleanor Dubinsky (vocals, cello, hand percussion); Dario Acosta Teich (guitar, charango, vocals); Mayra Casales (Latin percussion, vocals); Michael O'Brien (bass).
