Jim Robitaille brings expressive, modern jazz guitar marked by lyrical phrasing, adventurous improvisation, and a deep swing feel. Rooted in post-bop and contemporary jazz traditions, his playing balances technical mastery with emotional clarity, whether performing in an intimate trio or leading a full ensemble. Jim’s music is thoughtful, dynamic, and deeply connected to the spirit of jazz conversation.
An award-winning guitarist, composer, and educator, Jim has been active on the jazz scene since the early 1980s. His recordings—including To Music and A View From Within—have received international acclaim, and he is a winner of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Composers Competition. Jim has performed and recorded with acclaimed artists such as Dave Liebman and continues to shape the next generation of musicians through his work as an educator, clinician, and founder of the Performance Jam Session Series at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
