Joe Merrick is a singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator with a degree from Berklee College of Music and a career spanning more than three decades.
Outside Cape Symphony, he teaches drums at DiCenso’s Drum Shop in Quincy and Weymouth, and voice, piano, guitar, and recording engineering at Ultra Sound Studio in Hanover. Committed to community and education through the arts, Joe was Music Director for the South Shore’s Anderson Anderdaughter Children’s Theatre for 8 years.
Joe has collaborated with local and national artists including David Brown (guitarist for Billy Joel), Jeffrey Gaines, and Danny Seraphine (founding drummer of Chicago). He is a longtime producer of local talent, including Cape Cod favorites The Grab Brothers. A seasoned performer, he has shared the stage and bill with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. He has harmonized with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, played piano with Carole King, and opened for Steve Miller at the Cape Cod Melody Tent and South Shore Music Circus. Joe's own live shows – including an ongoing residency at The Loft in Yarmouth – boast a high-energy mix of original music and “Crushed-Up Classic Rock.”
You may recognize Joe's voice from appearances on The Sopranos and in radio and TV commercials, including Subaru’s “Ooh It’s Love” jingle. He has appeared on WCVB’s Chronicle, Fox 25’s Zip Trip (featuring his anthem “Goodnight Cape Cod”), and a holiday spotlight on Fox Rocks featuring his song “Santa is Alive and Well.” His songwriting has earned recognition from Billboard, The Great American Song Contest, Song of the Year, and ABET.
