Mónika Veress (Woods) is an accomplished musician with more than 20 years’ teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Clarinet Performance & Music Education and a Master’s degree in Stylistics of Clarinet Performance from Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj Napoca, Romania. At the Sigismund Toduta High School of Music, her nurturing but rigorous teaching style earned high marks from students.
In the U.S., Mónika played Mozart in Provincetown on days off from summer jobs, and was soon in demand for performances at art exhibits, benefit concerts, churches, and as a featured clarinetist with the Chatham Chorale. Mónika was a Cape Symphony guest artist and won their 2013 New England Soloist Competition. She was invited to play for Hungarian President Janos Ader on his first visit to the United States. In 2023, she played for the Honorary Consul of Hungary in Boston.
Mónika co-founded Open Mic Classical, a nonprofit whose mission is to promote classical music and help musicians perform, network, and build community.
Mónika believes music-making is social-emotional communication, and one of the most effective ways to learn empathy. Her students develop a growth mindset, love of learning, and resilience that is essential for great accomplishments. With young learners, she incorporates Kodály's child-centered philosophy of teaching.
Mónika Veress is accepting new students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults.
