Join us in welcoming Alyssa Wang, Cape Symphony's New Music Director.
Chosen from over 200 international applicants through a year-long search, Ms. Wang stood out for her artistry, vision, and ability to connect with audiences. Five outstanding finalists each conducted a Masterpiece concert during the 2024/25 season, and audience feedback helped guide the enthusiastic decision to appoint Alyssa Wang as your Cape Symphony's new Music Director.
An award-winning conductor, violinist, and composer, Alyssa is Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Boston Festival Orchestra, Music Director of Cincinnati Ballet, a member of the Boston Chamber Music Society, and former Assistant Conductor of Boston Ballet. She has premiered original works, including her violin concerto Swept Away, and has been featured on recordings such as Carlos Simon’s Grammy-nominated Requiem for the Enslaved.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Cape Symphony community as Music Director,” Alyssa shares. “The Cape is such a vibrant and inspiring place, and I can’t wait to collaborate with the extraordinary musicians of the orchestra to create performances that reflect and connect with this remarkable community.”
Cape Symphony leaders echo the excitement: “Her artistry, creativity, and vision align beautifully with our mission,” says Robert Sigel, Board Chair. “Alyssa brings an energy and imagination that will light up our stage and our community,” adds Executive Director Michael Albaugh.
