Cape Symphony is very pleased to present the impressive lineup of guest conductors and selected guest artists who will grace our stage for the Masterpiece and CapePOPS! concerts in our 23|24 season.
Fanfare: A Celebration of Unity, including pieces by Aaron Copland, Jean Sibelius and Ludwig van Beethoven, will be conducted by Farkhad Khudyev on September 23-24. Mr. Khudyev is Music Director for the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, and for the Orchestral Institute at the Hidden Valley Institute of the Arts in Carmel, California. His command of the podium and ability to captivate audiences make him an outstanding conductor to launch our season.
On October 21 and 22, we are in for a treat. Byron Stripling & Friends will be conducted by featured artist Byron Stripling, virtuosic trumpeter, skilled conductor and artistic director of the highly acclaimed Columbus Jazz Orchestra. Carmen Bradford will perform vocals. Their seamless collaboration promises an unforgettable performance.
The Magic of Mozart will be led by Cape Symphony Concertmaster and major talent Jae Cosmos Lee on November 11 and 12. Jae is a founding member of Boston’s award-winning self-conducted chamber orchestra, A Far Cry. The exceptionally talented Sylvia Berry will play the fortepiano. Get ready to be swept away!
Our own Joe Marchio, whom you know as Cape Symphony’s Assistant Conductor, a frequent host of our “Musically Speaking” pre-concert talks, and Music Director of the Chatham Chorale, will take up the baton for Holiday on the Cape on December 1, 2 and 3. Enchanting melodies and heartwarming performances will celebrate the joyous holiday season.
In the New Year, Passport to Hungary will be conducted on January 27 and 28 by the passionate Kevin Fitzgerald, Associate Conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony. Our featured artist is the incomparable violinist Roby Lakatos. Rich melodies, showcasing Hungarian cultural heritage, will transport us!
Paying tribute to one of cinema's most iconic characters, The James Bond Experience will be conducted by the highly accomplished Gerald Steichen on February 24 and 25, with featured vocalists Hugh Panaro and Morgan James.
The exceptional Francisco Noya, Music Director of the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, will conduct Better Together on April 6 and 7. Piano duo Christina and Michelle Naughton are our captivating guest artists. Don't miss their harmonious collaboration!
Remember When Rock Was Young: The Elton John Experience (May 18 and 19) and Our Ocean (June 15 and 16) will both be conducted by Carolyn Watson, Music Director of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra. You will remember her from our wonderful Passport Down Under concert last March. Piano and vocals in the tribute to Sir Elton will be performed by the fabulous Craig A. Meyer.
