Prepare for an Unforgettable Night of Music and Innovation!
MVY Radio and Cape Symphony Presents are thrilled to co-host a special concert featuring the visionary artist Matt Lorenz, better known as The Suitcase Junket. A true one-man band, Lorenz captivates audiences with his incredible ability to build instruments from scratch, using salvaged materials, and perform intricate, multi-layered music entirely on his own. Expect a performance that balances the grand with the solitary, blending raw, gritty soundscapes with mesmerizing showmanship.
What Makes The Suitcase Junket So Unique?
Matt Lorenz’s shows are a spectacle of invention. Performing with a guitar he found in a dumpster, a suitcase-turned-bass drum, and a collection of self-made instruments, his one-man act is a testament to creativity, thrift, and sheer talent. His music is a mix of doom-folk, blues, and rock, filled with haunting melodies and powerful storytelling.
With his critically acclaimed album The End is New, produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, Lorenz explores themes of hope, desperation, and the challenges facing the planet today. Each track is filled with striking lyrics, inventive soundscapes, and the raw energy that defines his sound. From the apocalyptic vibes of “Black Holes and Overdoses” to the thought-provoking “Jesus! King of the Dinosaurs,” this is music that will challenge, inspire, and move you.
