From the mystical call of The Swan of Tuonela to the delicate avian portraits in Respighi’s The Birds, each expressive piece beautifully conveys the wonders of the wild. Rautavaara’s Cantus Arcticus weaves recorded birdsong into an orchestral tapestry, immersing listeners in the haunting soundscape of the Arctic. Following an intermission, Concertmaster Jae Cosmos Lee will bring vivid depictions of nature’s changing moods to shimmering life in Vivaldi’s beloved The Four Seasons.

Masterpiece 5
Celebrate the vibrant spirit of spring with your Cape Symphony Orchestra. This program will awaken the senses and conjure the season of renewal in all its shades of beauty. Lili Boulanger’s D’un matin de printemps shimmers with youthful energy and the brightness of a new day, setting the stage for Debussy’s languorous, dreamy Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, a masterpiece of impressionistic color and sensuality. After intermission, Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 5 unfolds—a journey from darkness and grief to hope and triumph, culminating in the radiant beauty of its famous Adagietto. Let the power and poetry of these works transport you in this brilliant Masterpiece series finale. Music Director Alyssa Wang will conduct.
